Oru Kayak is an ingenious kayak that folds flat. Weighing just 25 pounds, it’s made from a folded polypropylene sheet. Oru creator Anton Willis said that “[the] biggest design challenge was perhaps the most obvious: making a streamlined form out of origami that could also collapse into a box.” After 25 water-tested prototypes, they came up with this robust design that Willis asserts can be folded “almost infinitely” without losing strength. Almost immediately following it’s launch on Kickstarter, the Oru had already topped its $80,000 fundraising goal. The Oru ships early this year and prices start at $800.

Launched in 2002 , POP Montreal is a meaningful and vibrant festival in Montreal’s cultural scene and on the international music circuit. Each year, the five-day festival presents more than 600 artists to audiences of over 50 000. The festival includes symposium discussions, artisan and visual art exhibitions, fashion shows, film screenings, and all-night parties.

This year’s events take place Sept. 19-23, 2012.

Tous H20 is the latest fragrance launched by Perfumes Y Diseño. Although I’m not gaga about this design, I do like the eco component to it. The glass is made from 25% recycled material and is 100% recyclable. A percentage of the sale profits are donated to support the Intermón Oxfam program which helps provide safe and clean drinking water to disadvantaged communities for as long as the product is on the market. Awesome!

The contents in this package are alcohol but it has the air of a perfume bottle. It has a high alcohol content (43%) and costs roughly $12,000! Yikes.

Back in July 08′ I blogged about forward-thinking business card concepts I’d spotted. I came across this meat business card recently and thought it made a nice addition. Created by meatcards.com, the card is created by searing contact information onto 100% beef jerky with a laser.

For 36 weeks Brooklyn artists Mac Premo & Duke Riley and Belfast artists Oliver Jeffers & Rory Jeffers collaborated on Book. The sketchbook was sent back and forth traveling over sixty thousand miles between the artists who took turns creating the beautiful pages. The artists created their sketches as a response to the content the previous artist had created. Book is now on display in Belfast at Laganside’s Tunnel Under the Weir.

I spotted this truck on the way home from a trip to O-Town for Thanksgiving. 10 points for creativity.

When you need to wash your truck Bradley, give me a call . . . I can hook you up with something a bit more permanent.

Time Switch [2009] is a concept LED switch plate clock by New York’s Harc Lee. The concept arose from working with tight deadlines and the notion of being “on the clock.” When you turn on the light, the time is displayed.
