This year’s IT thing to photograph and obsessively post on Instagram is Le Refuge, a pink “jungle” bed installation designed by artist Marc Ange at the Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition space during Milan Design Week.

Over 3,000 posts were uploaded on Instagram referring to it as “magical” and a “fairy tale”.

The artist Marc Ange calls it “a place where one finds comfort and peace. It is the projection of a childhood memory. Its large leaves form a shelter under the sun, away from reality, just like those of the imaginary jungle that grows in the room of a child who seeks escape.”

We can’t resist these giant pink metal leaves and the beautiful shadows it creates. We need one in our office.

With the new year in full swing, we’re keeping an eye out for the latest trends in design for 2017. Digital Arts Online recently released an article sharing their predictions for what 2017 will bring in the design world. Here are just a few things to look out for in the next year: Primary colours: Red, blue, green Packaging: Will focus on the product inside Photography: More candid

iOS 7, the new version of Apple’s mobile operating system, has arrived at last.

Designed by Apple’s industrial designer, Sir Jony Ive’s, the new “flat design” is a huge change from the look of the operating system Apple has stayed true to for the past 6 years.

So what’s changed?

  • iOS 7 has a new font (the look is skinny & clean)
  • Service coverage is now indicated with dots (vs. the previous bars)
  • The lock screen is different (for the first time in iOS’s history)
  • App icons are now flatter (but not quite flat)
  • The notifications panel isn’t has a flat look to it too (surprised?)
  • The keyboard is white(r) with an opacity level (lets you see what’s behind it)

As with all things apple, this will undoubtedly have a big impact of design trends in print, web and, of course, user interface design.
