Feeling nostalgic? This retro-styled keyboard will take you back.

The Lofree Keyboard is designed with the same layout as the Apple Magic Keyboard (with backlight) and is meant to connect with Mac, windows, android, and any other iOS system either wirelessly or with USB cable. This is a beautiful melding of old and new.

At the same time, it allows you to get back to the sensory experience that we get from using a typewriter. Oh that touch, pressure, and (of course) sound…

Today is a 24hr clock designed by , an award winning artist and horologist. This clock uses a 24-hour movement mechanism, allowing it to move at half the speed of a regular clock and making one full rotation every day. The result gives you peace of mind.

This feeling was inspired by the wonder of watching clouds passing by at 30,000 ft. and the need to bring it back to the ground where we spend our lives. Today is calm, balanced, and it makes you feel like you have more time; no stress. Time is precious and it should bring more gratefulness than anxiety so lets live it instead of kill it. Now if we could only find a way to slow down summer…

Love is in the air this month and what says romance more than candles? Nendo, a Japanese design studio, recently released an interchanging candle that melts through 5 different hues called sunset. The hues are situated in the center of the candle, and gently reflect off the white edges of the candle, creating a soft, colourful glow. Simultaneously, each hue burns a different scent, including bergamot, lemongrass, and sweet marjoram. The chosen colours are meant to reference the changing hues of a sunset, while the scents respectively compliment its colour.

The Hummingbird Bike has made its statement in the world of design as the lightest foldable bicycle in the world. Weighing in at 6.4 kg (more or less the weight of one watermelon), the bicycle’s frame is made of carbon fibre – the main reason for its light weight, and smooth ride (the material absorbs vibrations too!). Designed and built in London by Peter Craciun, the Hummingbird is perfect for on-the-go urban commuters. The bike is easy to fold and stow too – with one swift motion, the rider can quickly tuck away the back tire beneath the bicycle frame and bend the handlebars inwards. Its collapsibility makes for convenient transportation, from automobiles to airplanes. It’s sleek shape and intricate components are obtained using the latest technologies in 3D printing and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) machinery. It’s available in yellow, red, black, and plain carbon fibre, with two different wheel sizes to choose from. Check out the Hummingbird Bike on Kickstarter here!

In response to the U.N. COP21 climate change summit, Adidas and Parley for the Oceans are collaborating to bring environmental awareness to footwear with the conception of their latest future-craft: a 3D-printed Ocean Plastic shoe.

Constructed from discarded ocean plastic content for the upper shoe combined with a 3D printed midsole made from recycled polyester and gill net content, this shoe is a step in the direction towards sustainability within the manufacturing world. Love it!

Jens-Lennartsson-Photography-Mail-Promo-8

Scandinavian photographer Jen Lennartsson created 400 action figures of himself which he sent out in custom branded packaging along with his portfolio to targeted recipients in Scandinavia and the World. On the boxes Lennartsson included a list of skills and contact information. The project began in June 2012 and the first figures were sent out in October 2013.

And we thought our holiday card assembly was labour intensive!

Kontor has changed the game with this clever direct mailing. Design agency OgilvyAction Düsseldorf / OgilvyOne Frankfurt skipped disposable promo CDs and sent out attention-grabbing vinyl presses of DJ Boris Dlugosch’s single. Using a smartphone, the piece transforms into a turntable by allowing access to a digital copy with seamless graphics (complete with needle)!

Oru Kayak is an ingenious kayak that folds flat. Weighing just 25 pounds, it’s made from a folded polypropylene sheet. Oru creator Anton Willis said that “[the] biggest design challenge was perhaps the most obvious: making a streamlined form out of origami that could also collapse into a box.” After 25 water-tested prototypes, they came up with this robust design that Willis asserts can be folded “almost infinitely” without losing strength. Almost immediately following it’s launch on Kickstarter, the Oru had already topped its $80,000 fundraising goal. The Oru ships early this year and prices start at $800.
