It was about time for another team outing and what better place then seeing a production of Once– a Tony Award winning Musical at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts. We loved seeing our graphics (current and past seasons) adoring the building and lobby at the Segal.

The heart-warming production is a tale of love and taking chances and was a wonderful start to the Segal Centre’s 2018/19 Season. It’s a definite a must see for theatre fans. Filled with witty characters, wonderful music and talented actors the show is great for all ages. The show wraps this weekend, so if you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss out! Get tickets to see Once at the Segal.

The comedy duo behind the award-winning web series YidLife Crisis approached our team to create this poster for their mini-documentary Narishkayt: Yidlife Crisis in Krakow.

The film showcases their travels in Poland in search of their Yiddish roots and recent screenings were shown as part of the Jewish Culture Festival in Kraków, Poland and Federation CJA in Montreal, Quebec.

We hope you enjoy the poster we created to capture the comedy duo. You can watch the trailer for the film by clicking here.

We vanished!! From our desks that is…

Today our team took an impromptu field trip to Montreal’s McCord Museum to check out the Illusions: The art of magic exhibition.

The inspirational exhibition features exciting posters created to promote the most popular magicians of the 19th and 20th century (like Houdini, Kellar, and Chung Ling Soo).

Not only did we learn about disappearance, levitation, and escapes, but we learned about The Strobridge Lithography Company and Imprimerie Harfort,- the lithography companies that printed many of these stunning outdoor posters. We were dazzled! The use of primary colours, neutrals, and texture mixed with photographic images and bold typography was simply phenomenal.

There were lots of takeaways from the exhibit that we can’t wait to try in some specific client projects in the coming year…Stay tuned to see what comes out of it!

We are in love with these posters made for The BC Ski Challenge Campaign; an annual fundraiser benefiting the Ronald McDonald House.

While this fundraising focuses on skiing and snowboarding, there are other fun activities for those who don’t want to venture up the hills. There are cooking classes, spa days, and more…

Cossette Vancouver targeted all audiences by creating vintage inspired posters with double meaning illustrations encouraging everyone to join the weekend activities both on and off the slopes.

The colour palette revolves around pastels, a trend that has been circulating in arts and design in 2017 and we absolutely love it!

Peter Majarich, a designer from Sydney, Australia is challenging himself to redesign some of the most popular, well-known movie posters. “A Movie Poster a Day” is his personal creative challenge to redesign, well you guessed it, one movie poster per day for an entire year. His end results show off his talent as a graphic designer, seamlessly blending the digital aesthetic with an acute attention to detail. As designers, we know it can sometimes be a challenge to keep the brain creative 365 days 24/7.  We love Majarich’s personal mission to keep his skills fresh.

Design Is Yummy is proud to announce our recent collaboration with the Segal Centre for Performing Arts on their 2016-2017 campaign.

Last Wednesday night we were out in full force at their packed season launch party announcing their upcoming productions.

We were excited to see our custom type treatments and illustrations projected on the big screen to such a warm reception? Look out for the new graphics that will grace the centre’s brochures, program books, posters, building signs and advertising throughout the city in the coming months.

We can’t wait to check out all the shows- with such a passionate, hard working and talented group, they’re no doubt going to be incredible! Congrats to our clients on such a successful evening! Call (514) 739-7944 to subscribe to their upcoming season’s productions. Click here to read more about the project and see more details of the artwork.

As a company founded by a female entrepreneur, we were thrilled to partner up with Artistri Sud– a non-profit organization based in Montreal with a strong focus on empowering women artisans in developing countries. With the collaboration of local communities, Artistri Sud helps women access global markets to sell their handcrafted goods and create a sustainable income to better themselves and the people surrounding them. In order to raise funds, Artistri Sud organized the upcoming event “Tales of Triumph” where inspiring women share their stories of empowerment and success. For the year of 2016, Design is Yummy was honoured to donate our time to create this powerful typographic invitation and web graphics with the hopes of raising attention and awareness to such wonderful cause.

For some time, our team has had this limited edition engraving print up on our inspiration board. Watch this video to learn more about the craftsmanship involved in printing with engraving and embossing.
