Last weekend our Founder and Creative Director, Elana Rudick, had the pleasure of speaking at WordCamp Montreal. WordCamp is a conference dedicated to learning and sharing all that is WordPress (an open source content management system). The early Sunday morning crowd was an enthusiastic mix of designers, marketers, developers, freelancers and bloggers. Thanks to all those who attended, participated, shared and made the talk so much fun. Hopefully we were able to share some insight into how to chose the best theme strategy for your next project. Overall, the conference was a blast- we learned a lot, shared a lot, made new friends from across Canada and the U.S., and ate way too much candy provided by Planet Hoster. collage of pictures from wordcamp Who knows? You may be able to catch the talk in person at an upcoming North American WordCamp in the coming months…stay tuned. For now, the slides are available below:

Our team hit the town for some down time and bonding tonight at Pang Pang Karaoke! We enthusiastically sang our hearts out and discovered that we should probably stick to design.

I know we’ve been a little quiet on the blog front the past few months. I swear it’s because we’ve been hard at work on client projects and developing a new website for Design Is Yummy (launch expected next month!). To prove we’re still alive and kicking creatively, here are some pics from our team dinner last night at La Petite Mangue toasting the new menu designs we created for the Montreal restaurant.

Husband and wife duo Claudia Ficca and Davide Luciano give us a reason to laugh at the annoying potholes that plague Montreal’s streets with their series Pothole. With the help of friends and family posing for these staged photographs, the project has become a quick success. They have since taken the series to other cities in North America including Montreal, Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles.

The video for Can’t Stop Feeling by Franz Ferdinand proves that you don’t need all the bells and whistles to make an interesting music video. Sometimes all it takes is a simple, well-executed concept.

Franz Ferdinand will be playing at the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal, Aug 3-5.
