Le Refuge image

This year’s IT thing to photograph and obsessively post on Instagram is Le Refuge, a pink “jungle” bed installation designed by artist Marc Ange at the Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition space during Milan Design Week. Over 3,000 posts were uploaded on Instagram referring to it as “magical” and a “fairy tale”. The artist Marc Ange calls it “a place where one finds comfort and peace. It is the projection of a childhood memory. Its large leaves form a shelter under the sun, away from reality, just like those of the imaginary jungle that grows in the room of a child who seeks escape.” We can’t resist these giant pink metal leaves and the beautiful shadows it creates. Interactive Troll Mirror by Daniel Rozin video

Artist Daniel Rozin has created numerous mechanical mirrors using trash, wood, pompoms, and more! This one, made with paired pink and blue troll dolls, definitely caught our attention. Every pair of dolls rotates and re-aligns to capture the silhouette of the person standing in front of it. Mechanical mirrors use video cameras, small motors, and computers on board to reproduce a “pixel” version of what’s reflected as the viewer interacts with them. This means that they need an audience to come to life: “The important part of this equation is the person, not the artifact.” Check out all of Daniel Rozin interactive art here

Sony Music Headquarters in Kensington has a new typographical installation that documents the company’s rich 125 year musical history. Designed by Alex Fowkes,winner of Creative Review’s “One to Watch” in 2011, the timeline runs throughout the central atrium of Sony’s office and covers almost 150 square meters. The piece features the name of every artist signed to Sony Music and its affiliated labels from 1887 to the present day. Interspersed among the artist names are key developments in technology, musical formats and Sony’s corporate history.
