In 2007 three childhood friends from Long Beach, Cali formed We Barbarians after their previous group, The Colour, disbanded.

Theirs indie blues rock sound has been compared to early U2 and The Clash.

Like many of you out there, I’ve had this catchy break up tune stuck in my head for weeks. The award-winning video for Somebody That I Used To Know off Australian singer Gotye‘s Making Mirrors album featuring New Zealand songstress Kimbra is mesmerizing. The simple use of human bodies, body paint, murals, and stop motion is a perfect match to the song.

The High Road by Broken Bells.

The Broken Bells are an indie group that formed in 2009 by James Mercer (vocals, guitar) and Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton (multiple instruments & production) from LA. Neither are strangers to the music scene. Mercer is a member of the well known indie rock band The Shins and Burton is a member of Gnarls Barkley and DANGERDOOM, as well as being a respected producer for such artists as BeckGorillazThe Rapture and The Black Keys.

 

 

Yellow Bird Project is a Montreal-based nonprofit that works with indie rock musicians to create unique t-shirt designs. T-shirt sales profit an array of charities each chosen by the artists. Included on the roster are local favorites Wolf Parade and Stars.
