uVu Veritiv Canada image

Paper galore! The days leading up to the uVu Paper Conference were counted down with pure excitement in our office. Gorgeous paper stocks, innovative design and delicious food – what better way to spend an evening? Despite the freezing rain, the Design Is Yummy team trekked out en masse last night to the Sofitel Hotel to check out the uVu Be Seen event organized by Veritiv. Domtar, Neenah and Finch were just some of the paper mills showcasing their latest stocks at the event. From recyclable papers, to washable papers (what!?), we got to see and touch the paper of the past, present and future. We left armed with tons of paper goodies and inspiration. Thanks Veritiv!

Delicios Typography Experimentation image

We love sweets. We love typography. Put them together, and our mouths are watering. Franc Navarro and Alberto Martinez, both students from the IED Barcelona Design School, collaborated on this project to explore typographic design with minimal post production and liquids. Their end result – a honey dipped alphabet, made from layers of wood, and honey. For the year of 2016, Design is Yummy was honoured to donate our time to create this powerful typographic invitation and web graphics with the hopes of raising attention and awareness to such wonderful ...

For All You Candle-Lovers… image

Love is in the air this month and what says romance more than candles? Nendo, a Japanese design studio, recently released an interchanging candle that melts through 5 different hues called sunset. The hues are situated in the center of the candle, and gently reflect off the white edges of the candle, creating a soft, colourful glow. Simultaneously, each hue burns a different scent, including bergamot, lemongrass, and sweet marjoram. The chosen colours are meant to reference the changing hues of a sunset, while the scents respectively compliment its colour.

Healthy Hearts = Happy Hearts image

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, we thought we would start early on the whole “hearts” theme by sharing some business cards we designed recently for Santé Cardiovasculaire des Laurentides. Using warm, inviting shades of reds and purples, we kept the design clean and minimal. The logo (designed by yours truly as well!) adds to the inviting flare of the cards.
