Holidays are all about sharing, connecting, and giving. We are super stoked to finally be able to share our holiday greeting card for 2015. The idea for the design was sparked by the notion that “By giving we become open to receiving more than we have”. For the front of the card, we made sure the viewer’s eyes would be drawn first to the inclusive message “Merry Everything”. (It is after-all a holiday card!) Surrounding the holiday message are bilingual inspirational quotes, holiday themed messages and intricate geometric line-art. The white line art pops on the dark gray background and of course there are accents of our hot pink brand colour scattered throughout the illustrations as well. We celebrated this holiday season in style! Around 6 months ago, our Founder Elana discovered a deep, dark secret about her fellow employees – none of them had ever eaten at Montreal’s famous Gibbys restaurant. Baffled, she immediately decided (6 months in advance) that we would absolutely, without any hesitation, have our holiday dinner at Gibbys. Flash forward to a few nights ago when the Design Is Yummy team hit up Gibby’s in Old Montreal to enjoy one hella classy night filled with steak, kebabs and endless Monte Carlo potatoes. 2015 was a big year for our studio and a solid celebration was well overdue! Pantone 2016 Colour(s) of the Year image

Drum roll please….Pantone’s colour of the year is….2 colours? Pantone’s selection for the 2016 Colour of The Year came as a surprise, not only in the quantity of their choice (they picked two – whoa!) but also in their actual swatch selections. Rose Quartz (13-1520), a soft cool pink, and Serenity (15-3919), a tone of muted powder blue and lavender blended together, were chosen in to blur gender in the design sphere while simultaneously evoking peacefulness and calmness. Futurecraft Footwear: 3D-printed Ocean Plastic Shoes image

In response to the U.N. COP21 climate change summit, Adidas and Parley for the Oceans are collaborating to bring environmental awareness to footwear with the conception of their latest future-craft: a 3D-printed Ocean Plastic shoe. Constructed from discarded ocean plastic content for the upper shoe combined with a 3D printed midsole made from recycled polyester and gill net content, this shoe is a step in the direction towards sustainability within the manufacturing world. We’ve done it again! (The Davey Awards) image
